Andrate Nordic Walking Park

The paths and old mule track “Andrate Nordic Walking Park” connect Andrate (839 m) with the town of San Giacomo (1229 m) and from here Mombarone

(2371 m) proposing an ecosystem to hikers that is still intact and of rare beauty, something that today represents a harmonious interlayer of woods and clearings while up to mid 60’s it was almost exclusively characterised by grasslands and pastures, with a perfectly organised forage order, serving a self-sufficient …

Hiking

The Area of the 5 Ivrea Lakes, a sequence of round hills and lake basins, astonishes for its variety of natural environments and the very particular panoramic points of the AMI and the low Valle d’Aosta. The population of the surrounding areas consider it a true natural playground: you can run, pedal, climb, swim, go for walks, you can even reach the sky with a paraglider. The Terre Ballerine are a place of worship, a peat bog that floats on the water, where those …

Lake Cascinette ring

Also know as Lake Campagna, this body of water is of glacier origin and dates back to the era when the great Balteo glacier retreat;

The lake area, a green and quit oasis, is interesting from a naturalistic, geological, zoological and botanical point of view, besides the pleasant landscape aspect.

On the Castellazzo rocks it is possible to enjoy a splendid view of the San Giuseppe Castle, the Mombarone, Serra Morenica and Chiaverano.

Following it clockwise (from left to right) you reach a tombstone and shortly thereafter the guardian’s home (place called home of the fishermen). Along the route there is also a loose bulder.

Lake Pistono Ring

The hike brings you to the glacier origin basin where you find Lake Pistono: walking between vineyards and chestnut woods it is possible to admire the Montalto castle.

From a geological point of view, the area is even more interesting due to the passage of the Insubric Line.

The “Variantedel Maggio” brings you to one of the most interesting panoramic points of the Morainic Amphitheatre of Ivrea, while that of the “Terre Ballerine” (Dancing lands) leads to an …

Lake Sirio Ring

Lake Sirio, known in ancient times as San Giuseppe dal convento, a place with the same name on the high grounds that dominate it, is the largest of the five. It is a swimming lake and it is possible to reach the body of water by way of the two bathing establishments located at South-West and East. The ring pathway around the lake winds in two variations that lead you to discover the Terre Ballerine (Dancing lands), a former peat bog where the ground at the bottom …

Montresco Ring

The pathway skirts along the Maresco di Bienca, a lake watershed that during the Roman Era was used to bring water from the hill towards the city of Ivrea. The ruins of the Roman aqueduct are still partially visible: the outside is made with split stones and mortar, the inside instead is made of “cocciopesto” (crumbled bricks mixed with lime).
