“50 km dell'Erbaluce”

The “50 km dell’Erbaluce” is a Gran Fondo MTB specialty. The race itinerary has been slightly perfected throughout its 7 editions, changing from the initial 42 km to the current 50 km, slowly adding new unexplored segments. The action area are the morainic hills that surround the lake basin of Candia, followed along the technical single track and the quick cart roads at the base of the moraine.

Recommended period for the race: normally every year in April

“Tavagnasco – Santa Maria Maddalena ai Piani” Run

The route of the “Tavagnasco - Santa Maria MaddalenaaiPiani” run starts from the church piazza and starts with a short paved uphill section that it leaves almost immediately to enter a mule path that is followed for almost half of the race. The second part of the race takes place on pathways, between chestnut tree plantations, steep fields, beeches and pine forests. After 8 km you reach the small Santa Maria Maddalena church at 1310 m, located on a panoramic terrace on the Dora Valley, with a view of the great Amphitheatre and Valle d’Aosta. In 2011 the “CorsaaiPiani” reached its 60th edition, becoming the longest running mountain race in the area.

It is the most representative scooter race in the history of Canavese scooters that takes place in the city streets of Ivrea, a race that should not be missed for s scooter rider, partly due to the allure of its history, and partly because 3 hours is an important challenge first of all with oneself; and then there is the abundant satisfaction that continues after, yes after the hard work!!!

American style horseback riding

The AMI, with its partially unspoiled nature, may arouse an imagined country where it is possible to ride horse Western style in the open country in specialised horse riding centres. In horse riding centres it is possible to find covered and open structures where, under any imaginable weather condition, it is possible to learn, perfect and race the different American style specialities. Equipped stalls are then the home for our marvellous adventure companions.

AMONG THE LAKES

A trail with a great amount of natural interest content, intense thanks to the route difficulty and technicality, made of numerous tortuous single-track paths that cross humid and peat land areas. The path includes passing through thick chestnut tree woods, where the ground is fertile and when worked, it gives the sensation of a soft carpet, alternated by steep paths, where there is no shortage of rocks and root, which give you the perception of a true Mountain route! Stop and admire the green Canavese plain, dotted with lakes and small towns, it is the best prize that rewards the race efforts.

Hill race in couples (men, women and mixed) that is 24 km and 900 m long, with a positive height gain, run on unpaved roads and paths in the municipalities of Chiaverno, Montalto Dora and Borgofranco over long distance.

Andrate Nordic Walking Park

The paths and old mule track “Andrate Nordic Walking Park” connect Andrate (839 m) with the town of San Giacomo (1229 m) and from here Mombarone

(2371 m) proposing an ecosystem to hikers that is still intact and of rare beauty, something that today represents a harmonious interlayer of woods and clearings while up to mid 60’s it was almost exclusively characterised by grasslands and pastures, with a perfectly organised forage order, serving a self-sufficient economy. The ”Andrate Nordic Walking Park” represents a perfect natural gym for learning and practising NW, offering a great variability of difficulties, difference in altitude, types of base and travel times. It is a true paradise for Nordic Walking!

AROUND LAKE NERO

The event, at its first edition, will start and finish in Borgofranco. It will start on the “Rumanin” dirt road towards Montalto Dora and then continue the ascent towards the Montalto Castle and arrive at Lake Nero: Next it will follow the route along Lake Nero and return to Borgofranco, arriving at the “Choc” shelter area, covering a distance of 8.4 km.

Battaglia Peak and Scalaro Ridges

Starting from the upper car park of Scalaro (1,413 m) you can reach the recently built ParetedelleStelle (Steje - climbing routes).

In approximately 45’ you reach the climbing wall to then continue, for another 50, on mixed terrain (rocks/olina grass) transversally, crossing the deep valley of CornoBattaglia, to the South-East ridge climbing wall that descend from the Corno. In the ridge fracture area (between the upper rocky wall and the flat grassy saddle) you pass from an alpine configuration to attach to the rocky road. With areal passages that do not exceed the IV degree, after 8 pulls 60 m long, to the CornoBattaglia panoramic point. From the Corno a short double (27 m) safely brings us to the Colletto West of the Corno where the rocky ridge of Scalaro, starting from BecRenon, begins. Six more 60 m sections, after passing by the Madonnina located at the famous Lama De Petro, bring us to the Battaglia Peak, where it is possible to enjoy a splendid 360° panorama to then descend using a ring pathway, not always on a comfortable path, to return to the starting point.

Canoe Stadium of Ivrea

The Ivrea Canoe Stadium is a river sports centre located in the city portion of the Dora Balteariver on the right orographic side. Channel characterised

by a capacity exceeding 20 m3 per second, with a slope of 3.7%. It is a stretch of water that is difficult, full of holes, important gradient differences, well defined death points or agitated waters. A possibility of controlling the flow using bulkheads located at the height of the Pontetto. The path is not loved by all athletes since it requires good physical preparation and knowledge of the difficulties.

The AMI is an ideal area for trips and excursions with carriages. The most remote roads between towns and country cart roads, the valued areas where it is possible to move around comfortably sitting in a carriage, enjoying the view dominated by the Alps, there just at a short distance, full of lakes, in the splendid company of horses. Spring, with the characteristic “Canavese green” generated by the spring water from the Valdostan and Piedmont Alps that runs in the dense grid of rivers channels and ditches, it is the most beautiful period. Intense perfumes, brilliant colours, birds chirping are signals that nature is waking up, sensations that give strength and life to those that listen and live it with serenity and passion. The Ampitheater is not only land for excursions with carriages, but it is especially a land tied to the tradition of connections. The equine culture is well represented and magnifies during great feasts in the territory: the Historic Carnival of Ivrea, in the Winter, and the Fair of San Savino, patron saint of the City, in the Summer. Event during which it is possible to admire the beauty of the “woods” (Landau, Milord, Vis a Vis, ...) enriched of driving lamps brilliant English style finishings, these were created by able artisans that bring forward a secular tradition for the territory.

Chiusella Torrent

Country Horseback riding

Created for MTB, the AMI High Way immediately showed it was one of the most beautiful horse trails of Italy and, considering the AMI nature as horse lands, one of the most characteristic places for country horseback riding in Italy. A place to go in the country with your adventure companion almost the entire year (only in the summer the excessive vegetation and heat of the lower areas make excursions not very pleasant). This is a long trip, approximately 110 km following the line of the AMI hills, taken with the correct timing, this may even require 4 days.

The event is dedicated to Outdoor sports and giving value to the canavese area. A container of emotions, fun, brings together different sports disciplines and promotes an approach to sports even for the youngest, with specialities such as kayak, running, street boulder and parkour, having as logistics centre the Ivrea City Canoe Stadium.

An open air sports related event that is unique thanks its many disciplines in an exceptional natural context such as the Ivrea and Canavese area.

The Eporedia Active Days are a competitive event that is also open to amateurs, for true athletes but also enthusiasts, adults as well as families and children.

The Area of the 5 Ivrea Lakes, a sequence of round hills and lake basins, astonishes for its variety of natural environments and the very particular panoramic points of the AMI and the low Valle d’Aosta. The population of the surrounding areas consider it a true natural playground: you can run, pedal, climb, swim, go for walks, you can even reach the sky with a paraglider. The Terre Ballerine are a place of worship, a peat bog that floats on the water, where those that walk flutter along with the trees. A labyrinth of pleasant farm paths, mule paths and pathways interweave within, the hiker’s “joy and desperation”.

IVREA - MOMBARONE

The traditional IVREA - MOMBARONE RUNNING EVENT starts from Piazza Ottinetti of Ivrea, running along almost the entire corsoCirconvallazione and through via S. Ulderico it reaches the Lake Sirio. Once the lake has been passed, you reach Bienca, through dirt roads and pathways through the woods. Using an old mule track, you climb up to Andrate and go through it using the town centre streets. You continue climbing pathways up to the San Giacomo area and from there you reach Colma del Mombarone, passing in front of the Pinalba, Valneira and Fornelli lodges.. The route is almost completely pointed out with yellow arrows and signs and can therefore be used at any time throughout the year for excursions or practice, unless there is snow present.

Its origins go all the way back to 1922 and its success is connected to the appeal of this race, recognised by both those participating and the spectators.
