AMONG THE LAKES

A trail with a great amount of natural interest content, intense thanks to the route difficulty and technicality, made of numerous tortuous single-track paths that cross humid and peat land areas. The path includes passing through thick chestnut tree woods, where the ground is fertile and when worked, it gives the sensation of a soft carpet, alternated by steep paths, where there is no shortage of rocks and root, which give you the perception of a true Mountain route! Stop and admire the green Canavese plain, dotted with lakes and small towns, it is the best prize that rewards the race efforts.

Hill race in couples (men, women and mixed) that is 24 km and 900 m long, with a positive height gain, run on unpaved roads and paths in the municipalities of Chiaverno, Montalto Dora and Borgofranco over long distance.

AROUND LAKE NERO

The event, at its first edition, will start and finish in Borgofranco. It will start on the “Rumanin” dirt road towards Montalto Dora and then continue the ascent towards the Montalto Castle and arrive at Lake Nero: Next it will follow the route along Lake Nero and return to Borgofranco, arriving at the “Choc” shelter area, covering a distance of 8.4 km.

CASTLERUN

A competitive run open to all (adults and children) within the suggestive natural setting of the 5 lakes between hills, vineyards, woods and the Montalto Dora lakes. The finishing line of the sporting event “Scalata al Maniero” is the magnificent courtyard of the Montalto Dora Castle.

IVREA - MOMBARONE

The traditional IVREA - MOMBARONE RUNNING EVENT starts from Piazza Ottinetti of Ivrea, running along almost the entire corsoCirconvallazione and through via S. Ulderico it reaches the Lake Sirio. Once the lake has been passed, you reach Bienca, through dirt roads and pathways through the woods. Using an old mule track, you climb up to Andrate and go through it using the town centre streets. You continue climbing pathways up to the San Giacomo area and from there you reach Colma del Mombarone, passing in front of the Pinalba, Valneira and Fornelli lodges.. The route is almost completely pointed out with yellow arrows and signs and can therefore be used at any time throughout the year for excursions or practice, unless there is snow present.

Its origins go all the way back to 1922 and its success is connected to the appeal of this race, recognised by both those participating and the spectators.

IVREA RUNS

Free rhythm run for a 5 km route over city streets, open to all, and absolutely not competitive, to be taken at the speed considered most appropriate.

Participants will meet in Piazza Ottinetti at 9:30.

LAKE ORIENTEERING RUN FOR ALL

Orienteering run competition to be completed individually, in couples or in groups. A topographic map is made specifically for orienteering, with the conventional signs used throughout the world. The routes are simple and lead through 5 lakes, on small roads and paths.

LAKES RUN

The traditional 5 Lakes Run is a 24.3 kilometer run, mostly between the morainic hill woods North of Ivrea, where you will find the five morainic lakes (Lake Sirio, Lake San Michele, Lake Pistono, Lake Nero and Cascinette Lake) that give the event its name.

The characteristics of this route make this race unique in its genre: approximately 3 kilometers of city run and then 21 kilometers of pathway that is completely immersed in nature and in the green morainic hills, partially on paved roads and partially on dirt paths, reaching the municipalities of Montalto Dora, Borgofrancod’Ivrea, Chiaverano and Cascinetted’Ivrea to then return to Ivrea.

The road pavement is varied: paved sections alternate with other hilly pathways; even the slope is extremely variable: sections of flat areas, seemingly flat areas, difficult sudden ascents and descents that are steep and fast.

MEMORIAL LUCIANO CURNIS

In the town of Biencà, a hill running race on roads or pathways.

The route of this race, set between mountain and hills, was suggested by the same Luciano, and mirrors his routine practice run route, developed after many years of combinations and intersections of different lengths, among the small country roads of Chiaverano and Montalto.

MORENIC TRAIL

The Morainic Trail entirely runs the moraine perimeter, remaining after the Balteo glacier withdrawal at the end of the last glaciation. You start from Andrate, on the NE tip, to then arrive at Brosso, on the NW tip, after more than 110 Km, travelling through the Canavese woods that cover the gigantic Morainic front.

This is the Morainic Trail, individual, in couples or relay race in the wonderful scenario of the Morainic Amphitheatre of Ivrea.

The conformation of the environment surrounding Cuceglio is optimal to become the first Orienteering Map of Piedmont. Specifically, territory characteristics that summarise in close proximity different aspects that were ideal to express an Orienteering map. The alternate farmed areas and wide wooded areas, characterised by different degrees of practicability, unpaved roads that become pathways, more or less beaten, define a suttle plot where it is possible to lay a map with detailed information. Erratic stones, abandoned vineyards, sudden open spaces with almost unknown views that reveal suggestive views characterise this environment.

Recommended period for the activity: the entire year
